The sports facilities include Marbella Estadio Municipal and three others: the Vega del Mar,;Rio Huelo and Paco Cantos; 21 golf courses; four marinas (Puerto Banus, Puerto de Marbella, Puerto Deportivo de Marbella, and Puerto de Cabopino); and many clubs for the practice of riding, tennis, ultralight flying, and so on.

Climbing

La Concha is the highest peak of Sierra Blanca. Its ascension has become a personal challenge for all “marbelleros” because, although it is not very high, it offers a vertical danger.

This peak starts at zero elevation and rises to 1218 meters in a short distance so that its inclination is high. One of the most popular ways is through the Parador de Juanar, which, along the crest, reaches the peak, with fine views South Africa and Sierra de las Nieves to the north.

The ascent to the south is more complicated because it is necessary to cope with high, dangerous vertical walls. This excursion is not recommended because of the high risk of falling more than 60 m.

During the first year Marbella was entered into the category of silver, the team, for most of the season, was fighting for one of the two posts that were challenging the promotion to 1st Division until then the team owner, Jesus Gil, decided to dismiss the absence of Sergio Krecic a few days before the completion of the tournament due to personal differences, condemning the team to occupy the 7th place. It is known the best campaign in history.

After four years in the category of silver, the team descended from 2nd Division “B”, occupying the 20th position in the 1995–96 season, occupying the same position the following season, and being poised to start from zero, began accumulating debt.

A new path has recently opened and requires the use of technical equipment. The road was opened by Don Tomas Prieto in November 2008, who died during the attempt due to the detachment of a rock in the area known as Chorraera.

Furthermore, the Carrera Urbana city of Marbella and the People’s Walk San Pedro de Alcantara are two annual events aimed at promoting the healthy life of citizens.
