Alcazabade Malaga Following the historic steps of many people, the city has a rich culturalheritage, with monuments such as: The Roman Theater, built in the firstcentury; the Castle Gibralfaro; and of course the Phoenician base built by KingYusuf I in the Arab era, situated in the mountain of the same name, in theheart of the city (and is a great lookout over the bay of Malaga).

The Park in Malaga is a subtropical botanical garden witha parallel port formed on land reclaimed from the sea.

This is an avenuerunning for almost a kilometer in length marked with small rooms, walkways andstatues, which began in 1876. It contains plant specimens from all fivecontinents and is naturally suited to Malaga.It is truly one of the jewels of botanical Europe.

The gardens is flanked by monumental buildingssuch as the City Hall, the headquarters of the Bank of Spain, Neomudejar OldPost Office Building and the Palacio de la Aduana, neoclassical palace of theeighteenth century Museum of Fine Arts, which is remarkable for its walls”pillow” and the towering palm trees that flank the main facade. Take a tour of the residential area where the affluent classes of Malaga had their place ofresidence since the industrial explosion of the nineteenth century. There arestill many elegant mansions and villas, like Villa Sweden, Villa Maria and VillaFernanda Cele.

Monumentsand Places of Interest TheFarola The Farola of Malaga is a lighthouse located in the city of Malaga. It was designed by the engineer, Perywith Guzman on construction, and was completed in 1817. It was then located atthe entrance to the Port of Malaga. The FarolaMalaga is a symbol of the city and named the seafront location.

Palacio Episcopal At the foot of Gibralfaro is the Alcazaba, a Muslim palace-fortress, surroundedby the Nasrid and Puerta Oscura Gardens.After the Christian conquest of the city, they built the impressive Cathedralof the Incarnation, whose characteristics are known to be incomplete.

The lackof a tower makes it affectionately nicknamed “La Manquita”. Beside theCathedral is the Episcopal Palace, with a beautiful baroque façade. Other Attractions The Alameda Principal, is a promenade flanked by several ficus bicentennials.It was the first major tour of the bourgeois in Malaga.

Set in eighteenth century style, ithas several points of interest such as the famous tavern Antigua Casa delGuardia, an establishment with a century and a half of history which serves typicalMalaga wines, and Edipsa, the building or the house where the famous Danishwriter, Hans Christian Andersen stayed during his stay in the city,.

Ayuntamiento de Malaga La Calle Marques de Larios, is the main road and the legacy of urban planning fromthe nineteenth century city, as an open approach in 1891 with the idea ofconnecting the Plaza Mayor (Plaza de la Constitution today) with the Port of Malaga.

The road is flanked by a seriesof stylistic buildings inspired by the Chicago School which were unique andgroundbreaking in Andalusia. Then there is thereal “hall of Malaga”, the place downtown where all the major urban events takeplace and you’ll find the pulse of the city.

Picasso’sBirthplace The city is also famous for being the birthplace of the famous painter PabloRuiz Picasso, and has one of the three most important museums in the worldabout the artist and his birthplace, also located in the Plaza de la Merced,where objects are kept from the most renowned artist of the twentieth century.

The Malaga Picasso Museumand the Contemporary Art Center,CAC Malaga, has a great influx of visitors. This is one of the main reasons forcultural Malagabeing awarded a nomination for the European Capital of Culture in 2016. Italso highlights the historic gardens of La Concepcion and El Retiro.

Inaddition Atarazanas Market, built in the nineteenth century, is a buildingincorporating the iron arch of Nasrid from the fourteenth century, the House ofAtarazanas Baroque, and the monument to Jose María Torrijos, a Spanish liberalwho was executed in the city along with his companions and whose remains lieunder the great obelisk in his honor at the central Plaza de la Merced.
