Manilva is a municipality in the
Andalusian province of Malaga, located on the southwest coast of Spain in the region of the Costa del Sol and borders the province of Cadiz. The predominant
landscape consists of small hills separated by creeks and valleys with a
limestone depression behind the population center known as Canute of Utrera. It
consists of three main centers of population, which is the core Manilva, about
2km inland, the coastal town of San Luis de
Sabinillas (referred to as Sabinillas) and the fishing village of Castillo de la
Duquesa (known as the Castillo)
1.75 miles west along the coastline.
A portion of these nuclei have various promotions and
developments such as Puerto de la Duquesa which is turning the town into a
small coastal town. To the east lies the town of Estepona, a traditional
fishing port turned into tourist city, and to the north is Casares, embedded in
white Andalusian villages offering spectacular mountain scenery.
