Easter

Easter Osuna was declared in 1999 by the Festival of Regional Tourist Interest in Andalusia due toits historical and artistic value.

The Council of Guilds and Guild Osuna organize the Openingof Easter in the collegiate church of Osuna, the presiding image of the BlessedChrist of Mercy. They also organize the Cofrade Opening of Youth in the Churchof the Convent of San Pedro.

In addition, the Hermandad de la Vera-Cruz launches Saetas “CarmenTorres,” which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2006 and took place over fourweekends in three phases, with the grand finale being held in the Church VeraCruz, where its headquarters is canonical.

Also, the brotherhood of the Vera Cruz organizes the Openingof the Seven Words, which meets in 2008 for its 50th anniversary. There are twopublished posters and a Council of the City—the first devoted to a holder ofthe different fraternities and the second devoted to a detailed table of thevarious churches of Osuna.

Osuna has a way of wearing the steps, as they are ported toshoulder inside the passage and not the bag, as is traditional in the province of Seville. Two years ago guilds changedhow to carry their passages Vera-Cruz and humility; the rest are still wearingthe style in before the Sevillestyle.

Ursaonense Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday, with Borriquitaon Tuesday, with the Holy Hermandad de la Vera-Cruz from the San Agustin Church(the oldest in the Brotherhood of the Holy Week of Osuna, with nearly 500 yearsof history

It has a roster of 1152 members, being the season of penancethat meets most loyally among Nazarenes of penitents with cross and candle.

The procession is an iconography of the portentous image of Jesus with the cross on his shoulders, attributed to Roldan Pedro’s El Mozo. This step has a number of Nazarenes, with 800 candles and 400 crosses around.

There are 32 brothers who celebrate Costaleros and uploadimages on their shoulders. The habit is a purple robe with the floraldecoration and a mountain of red carnations. A band of twenty accompanies thisstep with metal percussion.

May Fair

Fair Osuna was established as a livestock fair by the RoyalResolution of Charles IV. Over time it was transformed into a festive event,making it one of the oldest in Spain,even older than the Fair of Seville.

The Ministry of Tourism, Trade, and Sport of the Junta deAndalusia has declared the May Fair a Tourist Interest in Andalusia, considering this event as “an expression that contributes to the development ofvalues and tradition of this popular municipality and Andalusia,as the promotion, development, and dissemination of tourism.”

From dawn on Wednesday to Holy Thursday, the station doespenance for many hours, with the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of Mercy, HolyThursday, Humility Fallen Jesus, and Good Friday, the great day of Holy Week,at dawn, leaving the Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazarene.

After the Brotherhood come the Church of Our Lady of Victoryand Sacramental Brotherhood Venerable Third Order of the Servants of NuestraMadre y Senora de los Dolores, “The Servites.”

It consists of a single step without the canopy of the beautiful Our Lady of Sorrows by Jose de Mora and has an excellently embroideredmantle. In the afternoon they do penance at the Brotherhood of Peace andBrotherhood of the Fifth Anguish.

Good Friday is celebrated out of the Santa Clara Churchof the Brotherhood of the Holy Burial.

La Hermandad de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno was establishedin the last quarter of the 16th century, most notably July 8, 1576, and has sincethen remained in its headquarters, the old school of Our Lady of Victory of theorder of the Lord San Franciosco Paula. Its first rules date back to two yearslater, 1578, with subsequent renewals, the latest being in 1994.

The tour starts with the output of the Nazarene Church ofOur Lady of Victory at 6:00 a.m. Friday and continues through Carrera, RodriguezMarin Plaza, Carrera, Molina Lus, Cuesta of Abades, and Plaza of theIncarnation, then comes to the Collegiate with a short break and returns ontheir journey through Cuesta de San Anton, Plaza Mayor, Seville, Christ, and SanPedro, finally reaching the temple around 12:30 p.m.

It is customary at the exit of the Plaza Mayor and the doorof the Parish of Our Lady of Victory for some people to sing this step aspeople in the town of Osunaand many immigrants celebrate Holy Week.

With over 200 years of history, it was founded in 1803 and isone of the oldest in the province of Seville, while thefirst of which is enjoyed in the region of the Southern Sierra and the countryside.The Osuna Fair is recognized as an event that meets all the requirements to bedistinguished with this statement of interest.

Sacramental Brotherhood of third order and venerableservants of our Mother and Lady of Sorrows was founded in 1730 at the Collegeof minima Victory Servite Slavery of Our Lady Mother of Sorrows.

The following year the community allowed less use of thechapel. The final proof of rules by the Archbishop of Seville was in 1780. In1805 it merged with the Brotherhood of the Collegiate Sacramental.

The iconography is attributed to Jose de Mora at the end ofthe 17th century or beginning of the 18th century. It is a full-size image,with a carved mantle and a rich stew with geometric and plant motifs.

The hands are intertwined and carrying a heart pierced byseven daggers. It does not characterize violent pain, but his intimatemelancholy. Each feature is a beautiful hue.

This step has a number of approximately 400 Nazarenes.Costaleros wear the number 28 on their shoulders. The robe is black, with a blacktail, a chapel, and a floral motif with different types of white flowers. Themusic that accompanies the Virgin Our Lady of Sorrows is the Banda Municipal deOsuna.

The route is the same as that of Jesus Nazareno but withdifference hours (departs at 7:00 a.m. and arrives at the temple at 1:30 p.m.).
