Torremolinos Beaches and park

The main tourist attraction of the town are the beaches of Torremolinos. Themunicipality has nearly 7 miles of coastline, with its beaches being Los Alamos, Playamar, Bajondillo, La Carihuela, Montemar and El Saltillo. These are city beaches accessible from the Paseo Maritimo.

They are generally dark sanded with moderate waves and have a high level of occupancy during the summer months. The most popular are the beaches of La Carihuela and El Bajondillo, located in the city center.

The first is over a kilometer long and 40 meters wide. La Carihuela is approximately the same width and about 2 kilometers long. This beach is situated in the old fishermen's quarter of the same name, filled with fried fish restaurants.

The major areas of the city are Complex Torremolinos Springs-Mill Botanical Gardens and Park The Inca Battery. The first is the original birth place of the springs in Torremolinos and concentrates more than 150 palm trees of 50 different types, and some 300 trees of 60 different species and about 400 shrubs also varied.

 

The battery has a central lake water tower and a veranda overlooking the coast. It is situated on land that once hosted anti-aircraft batteries used during the Civil War and contains an area of canyons, passageways and bunkers.

The city’s leisure centers include the Aqualand water park and the Crocodile Park, dedicated to the zoo crocodile and other reptiles and amphibians.
